From our Founder: "After working as a clinical therapist for six years, I experienced a professional burnout. In my healing journey, I turned to yoga. I realized healing mental health does not exist in a vacuum. Holistic Mental Health Care combines the modern with the ancient, healing all layers of the Self."
Holistic Mental Health Care involves classic talk therapy with mindfulness, meditation, and movement. We work to influence all layers of the Self. In this type of treatment, the student is an active participant. Students are given weekly homework assignments that may include practicing cognitive behavioral therapy skills, meditating, journaling, or practicing certain physical movements.
Holistic Mental Health Care Services do not replace traditional psychotherapy, but may be used as an adjunct treatment or as an alternative if symptoms are not too severe. If you are wondering if this is right for you, please write us at amy@upyogacenter.com to set up a time to discuss further with our founder, Amy Ford, MSW.
Cost: Private, live sessions on Zoom are $100 per session, or 8 sessions for $640.
Typical treatment plans are 8 weeks long.
Amy's approach to providing therapeutic services involves an active involvement of both student and teacher. She is inspired to accompany her students on their journeys to health and healing of all layers of the Self, with a strong focus on integrating body, mind and spirit.
Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen says “True service is not a relationship between an expert and a problem; it is far more genuine than that. It is a relationship between people who bring the full resources of their combined humanity to the table and share them generously.” Amy is a big believer that the student teacher relationship is one where both participants are working together as a team to lessen suffering and work towards a peaceful heart. Students are given homework and study materials and are encouraged to be active participants in their health and healing.
